121316: 2nd Time to BigBend/Rio Grande & Amistad

Revisiting and seeing with new eyes and new “stuff”! Pecos River is stunning at Amistad! Nice Ranger at Persimmon Gap Visitor Center let me in early to Big Bend TX to obtain passport stamp since I’d been there in January when I did not yet have my new Passport book-good on ya, Ranger! When I finally found Visitor Center for Amistad NRA on 90, there was a cabin on a pickup decorated so beautifully I had to speak with the owner. She even gave me a tour of her “home” on wheels with compost toilet, loft bed, stove, and heater! So cool! Then she told me about a FaceBook page: SoloWomenRVers, with helpful hints, etc. then she reminded me that in TX by South Padre Island is a company that receives mail and provides address for driver’s license and car registration location. I’m planning on going to Padre Island and see about the details. At Amistad saw 3 videos and learned that 3 different types of pictographs have been found, some of which are 4,000 years old!

121116: Chamizal Natl Monument and revisiting WhiteSands/Guadalupe/Carlsbad

Went back to getPassport Stamps and enjoy again the experience in January towards the beginning of this adventure. I had fun using the white sand for a background for messages. White sand is my “snow” minus the cold and slippery part. I learned that revisiting locations was different, not because the locations were that different; but, because I was different! I had learned about volcanic activity and calderas so my experience was different. Chamizal celebrated USA and Mexico finally resolving a long time border dispute in 1967.
